How exciting, you are engaged and finally getting some engagement photos done! Anddd you’re probably thinking, I’ve never done this before - what do I even wear for it!?

Here are some things you might want to consider when putting together your engagement session outfit:

1. LIMIT PATTERNS

Nothing too patterny is best, otherwise it can draw attention to the outfit as opposed to you guys. For example, something with big floral patterns can sometimes take away, or checkered type shirts as well.

2. THINK LOCATION

Pick an outfit that matches the location. So if the vibe of the session is more cottage, by the water, hangout style, I'd suggest not wearing a fancy dress. Probably something like jeans and a tee, or a cute summer dress, or shorts or something would better fit the atmosphere!

3. CONSIDER COLOURS

Don't pick the same colours because you'll blend into one another. What I mean by that is don't pick a black shirt for each of you, because you'll end up looking like a blob when you stand close together. Instead, if you wanted to choose darker colours, or similar colour tops, maybe pick one that's grey and one that's black so there is some distinction between the two.

Anothing thing to note is considering the colours of your location/season. If you pick a spot with a lot of greenery, a shirt that is green probably won't be your best bet so you don't blend in with it. Instead, you'd be better off with neutral tones, browns, whites, blacks, light pastel type colours that will pop nicely against the green.

Or maybe it’s an engagement shoot during the fall, wearing an orange shirt that matches the trees might not be your best bet either.

Instead, consider colours that will compliment the location/season you’ve chosen rather than blending into it.

4. BE YOU

Last, but certainly not least, wear something that is you, that makes you feel comfortable. Don’t choose something that you’d never wear, because that discomfort will show in your photos, just like your comfort will also show :)
