How to nail your next photo session
1. Let your photographer get to know you and get to know your photographer
Those questions that I just asked you on the contact form? They are there for a reason. Me showing up on my social outlets, it’s there for a reason. If we can relate, if we can vibe, you will feel more comfortable. And what happens when you feel more comfortable? Relaxed, chill photos, 100%.
2. Treat it like a date
You are likely getting all dolled up, some people even buy a new shirt or outfit! So treat it like a night out. Plan to go for lunch or dinner before/after the session. Make a day out of it so you are connected with each other.
3. Pick a location or activity that has meaning to you
Is there something you do every weekend that really speaks to you guys? Is there a place you go all the time that you absolutely love? Why not pick that spot for engagement photos. If it speaks to you as a couple, and it’s something you always do together, again, you are going to feel more comfortable. And I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Comfort = more relaxed, chill photos!!!!!
4. Wear something comfortable that is your style
Okay so I talked about being comfortable in your setting and comfortable with the photographer so why not extend that to be comfortable in what you’re wearing? I get lots of couples asking what they should wear. For starters, consider the season. If it’s freezing cold out, maybe don’t opt for a short flowy dress. If you normally hang out in jeans and a tee, then why not rock it for your engagement session? There is no must to be fancy or casual, do whatever speaks to you most and whatever will make you feel most comfortable in your own skin.
5. Have fun
At the end of the day, let’s just have some fun. Let yourselves be vulnerable with each other, let yourselves laugh with each other. Feeling a little nervous? Grab a drink, or heck, bring one with ya if that’s your thing! Ease your nerves however you want, and remember, it’s just you and your boo (andddddd this chick following you around)
